Our Story

Citrus owner Alex worked at a small salon in Wilmington, NC, over a decade ago. In 2017, Alex left the salon and moved to Costa Rica, spending two years there running a beachside restaurant called “Puerto Pirata,” before returning to Wilmington.

In early 2021, Alex and her partner, Jenna, moved back from Costa Rica with a drive to start their own businesses. Jenna started Sharp Business Bookkeeping, an accounting firm, and Alex wanted to open a salon. 

Et voilà, Citrus Salon was born. 

When the doors of Citrus Salon opened in July, 2021, the team had just six stylists. Now, Citrus boasts a team of 20. “We knew an Aveda salon would be the perfect fit for downtown,” Alex said. “I couldn’t be more grateful for our community and team.
